The Town of Gardiner is in the south-central part of Ulster County. It's population was 5,238 at the 2000 census. The town hall, a former schoolhouse is on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Wallkill Valley Rail Trail begins in southern Gardiner. The majestic rock cliffs of the Shawangunk Mountains are partly in the western part of the town and are the perfect backdrop for your outdoor activities.
Gardiner is home to the pristine Catskill Mountain water of Lake Minnewaska and Lake Awosting. Gardiner offers extensive hiking and biking trails, skydiving and rock climbing.
Local residents appreciate all Gardiner has to offer. It is still home to families who established its heritage as Hudson Valley farmland in the 19th century. Today, a vibrant and diverse community carry this town into the 21st century without sacrificing its "small-town" ambiance.
